People are good. That's all there really is to hold on to in a world filled with hate, violence, greed, lust, agony, and death – people are good. Its such an childish notion to cling onto, that deep down inside that scarred exterior, past the furrowed brow, further than the clenched fist, beyond the bleeding heart, is something good. Every day its a struggle to keep your sanity in a world going mad – the idea that people are good is the only lifeline you cling to. Its the only thing that keeps us going in a system thats lost its purpose long ago. Pushed to study hard so that one day you can take your place in the assembly line, turning out destruction and death twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty four days a year – Christmas is a day of celebration, not work. Toiling away, doing your part to keep humanity alive in its continuing pursuit to decimate all things humane. Push on, comrade, for its all for the better – after all, people are good. What's interesting is how much evidence we face of humanity's urge to conquer and destroy. Cable news networks blare depressing stories every hour on the hour. We take no care to hide the ulterior motives that drive nearly everyone int heir pursuit of flesh and power. Denial is a large part of everyone now – whistling jovially to the steady background of chaos, all the while thinking people are good. What else can you do? Wake up to the sudden realization of what lies around you, succumbing to madness with the loss of hope? No, you must carry on – thinking people are good. (Ian Gibson)
